Les Enfants du Paradis is the most beautiful love story ever told. Garance, an orphan, is fought over by four very different men – the greatest mime, the finest actor, the richest nobleman and the most prolific criminal of the day. The drama, played out in post-revolutionary Paris, mimics the pantomimes and melodramas that the audience flocked to see, packing the playhouses all the way up to the Gods.

Universally described as the greatest French film ever made, simple8 brings this new adaptation and translation to the Arcola as the perfect alternative to modern pantomime.

“To have made the swirl of passions, betrayals and teeming crowds so exciting and so moving, and on so bare a stage, is a true achievement”
