Lunch Date
Lunch Date is a regular and free lunchtime event to showcase new work in development.
NEXT LUNCH DATE: Friday 5th June, 1.30pm, Pink Like Paris, by Maria Borland
‘Dance with me. Don’t just sit there. And say nothing. You think you can just sit there and say
nothing? Well you can’t. I gave you my crisps.
Now dance.’
Gabby is 13 and likes Paris Hilton, crisps, hair product and watching her brother’s porn. Stuart, her brother, is on a trip to work for peace in the West Bank. When he returns to London he brings Ayat, a beautiful Palestinian girl, to live with him. Ayat and Gabby don’t share much in common, apart from Stuart, and Gabby doesn’t like to share him at all. A claustrophobic, blackly comic play.
Maria Borland is a graduate of the Goldsmiths Masters in Writing for Performance. She currently lives and works in Seoul, South Korea.
Adam Brace is a writer, director and dramaturg with Simple8. Most recently he wrote the acclaimed Stovepipe (National Theatre 2009).
